MOSCOW, April 24 (RAPSI) – A court has sentenced the former first deputy head of the administration of Sochi Mugdin Chermit to two years and three months in penal colony settlement for issuing permits for construction in violation of safety requirements, the Russian Investigative Committee’s press service reports.

The former official has been found guilty of abuse of office.

The investigation and the court found that in 2016 Chermit without proper verification of the submitted documentation and information signed a permit for the construction of an object. As a result, the organization attracted funds from an outside organization in the amount of more than 336 million rubles (over $5 million).

In addition, in 2018, ex-offical illegally issued a permit for placing in commission an 18-storeyed not-repairable building, investigators said.
