MOSCOW, May 29 (RAPSI) – An active member of the Vologda Region’s chamber of lawyers has been arrested along with his former colleague on suspicion of evidence tampering, the press service of Russia’s Investigative Committee reports.
According to investigators, they are suspected of hindering conduct of preliminary investigation into large-scale embezzlement of seized property worth over 20 million rubles (about $310,000).
Investigators believe that in January the suspect, his associate whose status of lawyer was suspended early in the year, and three residents of the Vologda Region tampered evidence and obstructed the probe into a serious criminal case.
According to case papers, in 2018, police officers conducted a check of the alleged stealing of buses upon an application of a supervisory manager of Transoil company and seized 6 buses broken for parts from a scrap iron base. Two bailiffs were suspects in the case.
