MOSCOW, September 9 (RAPSI) – Russian investigators on Monday filed a motion to detain Bakhyt Karabalayev accused of assault related to robbery against the house of Chair of the Central Electoral Commission Ella Pamfilova, the court’s spokesperson Yunona Tsareva told RAPSI.
Investigators asked the court to place the defendant in detention till November 6.
Police claim that an attack against the house of Pamfilova in the Moscow Region was committed in the night of September 6. A crime figure entered the building through the window, several times tasered Pamfilova and escaped, the Interior Ministry’s spokesperson Irina Volk told journalists earlier.
Karabalayev could face up to 12 years behind bars if convicted, according to the Russian Criminal Code.
