MOSCOW, September 19 (RAPSI) – Ex-chair of the election commission of Russia’s Republic of Komi Yelena Shabarshina has received 6 years in colony for taking bribes, the Investigative Committee’s press service has told RAPSI.
Additionally, she has been fined 1.56 million rubles (over $24,000). The court has also banned her from holding certain posts for 2 years.
According to the indictment, from 2010 to 2015, Shabarshina acting as a public official, received monthly bribes for illegal actions from then deputy head of the Komi Republic Alexey Chernov. She submitted information on the election results to Chernov and his trustees.
In total, the defendant was given bribes more than 1.5 million rubles.
