MOSCOW, September 27 (RAPSI) – Investigators have solved the murder of abbot Daniil committed in Russia’s Yaroslavl Region in July 2016, the Investigative Committee’s press service reports.
Law enforcement officers have checked over 3,000 persons on alleged implication in the high profile killing, including people close to the abbot, drug addicts, previously convicted individuals and others. Over 430 forensic examinations have been conducted, the statement reads.
As a result, investigators got information on alleged involvement on the 31-year-old man Alexander Avdeyev in the crime.
During interrogation, the man, whose status was not disclosed, pleaded guilty and revealed the circumstances of the murder. Avdeyev also said that he spent one million rubles stolen from the abbot for personal needs, according to the investigation.
