MOSCOW, October 8 (RAPSI) – Moscow’s Babushkinsky District Court will hear a case against a former deputy director of the Federal Agency for Special Construction (Spetsstroy) charged with bribery and abuse of office, RAPSI learnt from the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia on Tuesday.
Indictment has been already approved by military prosecutors. The case papers have been sent to the court for consideration, the statement reads.
The criminal case against ex-top official of Spetsstroy has been opened in the light of violations revealed during the construction of Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia's Far East. Investigators believe that a head of one of the construction companies involved in the cosmodrome’s construction gave the defendant over 32 million rubles (about $500,000) in bribes for assistance in the conclusion of construction contracts and common protection. However, the construction firm failed to fulfill its obligations and later was declared bankrupt, that resulted in infliction of damages worth over 120 million rubles ($1.8 million) to the state.
