MOSCOW, October 22 (RAPSI) – A court has sentenced three army officers to prison terms ranging from 3 to 5 years for illegal online sale of heat vision sights, information published on the website of Russia’s Investigative Committee reads.
Chief of the weapon ordnance storage division of a military unit in the Vladimir Region Sergey Gritsenko has received 5 years behind bars, ex-section commander of the military unit Andrey Titkin has been given 4 years in penal colony. Senior lieutenant Maxim Vilinsky has been sentenced to 3 years for accessory in crime.
According to investigators, from July to October 2018, Gritsenko, Titkin and Vilinsky stole heat vision sights from the military unit’s storage, sold them through the Internet and spent the money for their own purposes.
Damage caused by their actions was estimated at more than 7.7 million rubles (over $120,000).
The defendants were ordered to reimburse damages. Their sentence came into force.
