MOSCOW, October 22 (RAPSI) – Elmira Ziganshina, ex-magistrate judge from Kazan, Tatarstan, has been sentenced to 4 years in penal colony for mediation in bribery, according to a statement of Russia’s Investigative Committee.

Her accomplices have been also found guilty of complicity in bribery. Robert Khairutdiov and Eldar Ayupov have received a 3.5-year suspended sentence; Artem Kosarev has been given 3.5 years behind bars.

According to investigators, in August 2017, Ziganshina working in one of judicial districts in Kazan, the capital of Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan, demanded through an intermediary 450,000 rubles (about $7,000) from a plaintiff in one of the civil cases she was hearing. She promised the claimant to assist in the delivering of a ruling in his favor.
