MOSCOW, November 19 (RAPSI) – A court in Kazan, the capital of Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan, will consider a case against a 33-year-old resident of Vladivostok, Far East, who stands charged with illegal online sale of 9 kilos of black caviar worth over 2.6 million rubles (over $40,000), the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office reports Tuesday.
Indictment has been already approved in the case.According to investigators, in May 2018, the defendant illegally bought more than 9 kg of caviar of great Siberian sturgeon (Kaluga) and Amur sturgeon and then organized the product’s transporting to Kazan and further its online selling.
Damage caused to Russia’s aquatic biological resources is estimated at more than 2.6 million rubles, prosecutors claim.
