MOSCOW, January 30 (RAPSI) – Probe has been opened into a deputy chief of the Federal Penitentiary Service’s Directorate for the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, who had allegedly used convicts as labour in the interests of business, the Investigative Committee’s press service reports.

He is suspected of abuse of authority, the statement reads.

According to investigators, from August to December 2019, the suspect, using his official position contrary to the service interests and acting for self-serving reasons, ordered employees of one of the local penal colony settlements to use inmates as labour in the interests of third-party commercial organizations.
