MOSCOW, February 4 (RAPSI) – Moscow’s Basmanny District Court on Tuesday ordered Deputy Director of the Culture Ministry’s department on the state protection of cultural heritage Pavel Mosolov  accused of embezzlement to be released from detention and put under house arrest, RAPSI was told in the court’s press office.

His house arrest is set until February 12.

Mosolov stands charged with stealing over 20 million rubles of budget funds allocated between 2011 and 2016 for the reconstruction of the Solovetsky Monastery, a fortified monastery located on the Solovetsky Islands in the White Sea in northern Russia.

Other defendants are Mosolov’s former colleague Vladimir Tsvetnov and two businessmen.
