MOSCOW, February 10 (RAPSI) – Oral arguments of the parties in the case of General Alexander Drymanov, ex-director of the Investigative Committee's Main Investigations Directorate accused of corruption, are to be heard at chambers, RAPSI reports from the Moscow City Court on Monday.
Alongside Drymanov, there are two other defendants in the case over a $1 million bribe; Colonel Alexey Kramarenko and Colonel Mikhail Maksimenko. Neither of the defendants admits guilt.
Investigators believe the defendants received the bribe for mitigation of restrictive measures with respect to a member of an organized gang. The case of two other defendants, Alexander Lamonov and Denis Nikandrov, are heard separately.
Drymanov was arrested in mid-July 2018. He stands charged with receiving two large-scale and especially large-scale bribes. The defendant pleads not guilty and calls the case fabricated.
In March 2018, Drymanov was questioned as a witness in a case against ex-chief of the Investigative Committee’s Internal Security Directorate Mikhail Maksimenko. On April 20, Maksimenko was found guilty of taking two bribes and received a 13-year prison sentence. Additionally, he was fined 165 million rubles ($2.5 million).
