MOSCOW, April 29 (RAPSI) – The Moscow City Court has upheld detention of senior police investigations official Alexander Bryantsev as part of an abuse of office case, RAPSI has learnt from the court’s press service.
The defendant will stay detained until June 1.
Two deputy chiefs of the Interior Ministry’s Investigations Department Alexander Biryukov and Alexander Krakovsky as well as senior investigator for especially important cases Alexander Bryantsev are charged with abuse of power.
According to the investigation, the defendants illegally assisted in the release of the owner of Optima Development construction company Albert Khudoyan charged with a 2-billion-ruble embezzlement (about $30 million) from detention and placing him under house arrest.
