MOSCOW, May 20 (RAPSI) – A court in Russia’s Republic of Karelia will proceed with a case over smuggling more than 100 antique epees and sabres, RAPSI has learnt from the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to investigators, a resident of Karelia has bought at online auctions 30 items of the West European-style cold arms worth over 1 million rubles ($14,000) classified as cultural values, including epees and sabres made over 100 years ago, warehoused in Finland.
In May 2019, he left for Finland and attempted to smuggle the arms in his car without declaring to Russia, the statement reads.
