MOSCOW, May 27 (RAPSI) – A 35-year woman has been fined 15,000 rubles ($200) by a court in Russia’s Togliatti for distributing fake news about a local child allegedly died from coronavirus, the Interior Ministry’s spokesperson Irina Volk has told RAPSI.

The woman has admitted that she had disseminated the fake information on one of the social media platforms. According to the defendant, she has been told about it from an unknown woman in a public place. Under the panic, she has published unchecked information, according to the statement.

The defendant has been found guilty of misuse of freedom of the mass media.
