MOSCOW, June 9 (RAPSI) – Famous Russian actor Mikhail Efremov was charged with a traffic offense committed in a drunken state and led to a victim’s death, RAPSI was told in the press service of the Interior Ministry’s Main Directorate.
Under these charges Efremov could face from 5 to 12 years in a penal colony if convicted.
Initially, the actor was accused of committing a traffic offense under the influence of alcohol, but the charges were toughened after the victim died in a hospital early in the morning on Tuesday, the statement reads.
On the previous evening, Efremov driving his car crossed into the oncoming lane in central Moscow and collided with a delivery service vehicle. He was arrested on the scene. According to the police, he is being checked for the presence of alcohol in his blood.
