MOSCOW, June 16 (RAPSI) – An environmental offence case was launched against employees companies Norilsk Nickel and Mekhanobr Engineering over wastewater discharge to Tomulakh river in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk Krai, the Investigative Committee’s press service reported Tuesday.
The violations were allegedly committed during construction of an industrial waste disposal facility.
According to the findings of Russia's federal environmental watchdog Rosprirodnadzor, damage caused to the environment is estimated at more than 154 million rubles ($2.2 million).
A version of the preliminary investigation reads that from June 2017 to July 2019 unidentified employees of Norilsk Nickel and Mekhanobr Engineering responsible for abidance by the environmental safety rules committed several violations resulted in the wastewater discharge to Tomulakh and ground near the Oktyabrsky mine during design and construction of a landfill of the Talnakh processing plant.
