MOSCOW, June 17 (RAPSI) – Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has opened a criminal case on bribery allegations against a former judge of the Volzhsky court in the Samara Region, the Investigative Committee’s press service reports.
According to the statement, in September 2019, Alfia Geniyatova asked the judge to assist in the release on parole of Alexander Mukoyedov serving sentence for intended infliction of harm to health resulted in a victim’s death. The judge promised to help if he receives the case for the reward ranging from 300,000 to 500,000 rubles ($4,300 – 7,200).
In October, Geniyatova received 500,000 rubles from the wife of Mukoyedov to give it to the judge. Geniyatova and Mukoyedov are defendants in the bribery mediation case.
In November, the judge was disqualified, the statement reads.
