MOSCOW, August 17 (RAPSI) – A prosecutor of the Kamchatka Region has approved indictment against a former mayor of the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky charged with receiving bribes totaling to 900,000 rubles (over $12,000), the press service of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office reports.

The case has been forwarded to the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky City Court for hearing.

The former official and his brother depending on their roles are charged with bribetaking, mediation in bribery and large-scale fraud.

Investigators believe that the former Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky mayor through the mediation of his blood brother and municipal institutions officials received two bribes from a CEO of a commercial organization and an individual entrepreneur for creation of favourable terms during execution of municipal contracts and road maintainance and urban beautification agreements.

As part of the investigation, the defendants’ assets worth over 9 million rubles (over $123,000) have been seized.
