MOSCOW, October 7 (RAPSI) – The Kamchatka Krai prosecutors have forwarded probe materials on the water body pollution in the peninsula to investigators in order a criminal case to be opened, the press service of Russian Prosecutor General’s Office reports.
Initial water sample tests alongshore the Pacific Ocean’s Avacha Bay showed the fourfold above-limit value of the maximum allowable oil product concentration and phenol exceedance in two and a half times. However, the examination has not revealed air pollution, the statement reads.
In late September, photos and videos picturing dead fishes and other thalassophiluses on the shore including seals, octopuses and sea stars, were published on social media. Local serfers complained of eye swelling and pain and skin irritation.
