MOSCOW, October 21 (RAPSI) – A court has placed 12 alleged members of an organized criminal group suspected of selling tobacco products without excise labels under house arrest, the press service of the Investigative Committee’s Yaroslavl Region Directorate has told RAPSI.
Investigation is ongoing. During searches law enforcement officers seized money and over 1 million packs of cigarettes.
A case is opened over creation of a criminal community and participation therein. According to the probe, between January 2018 and September 2020, the suspects illegally sold cigarettes worth over 300 million rubles (about $4 million) to the Yaroslavl Region’s residents.
