MOSCOW, February 11 (RAPSI) – Moscow’s Nagatinsky District Court has sentenced chief accountant of Russia’s embassy in Israel Natalya Zhuravleva to 6 years in penal colony fo embezzling around 50 million rubles (about $700,000) of budget funds, the court’s press service has told RAPSI.
Her colleague Anna Sidorova received 8 years behind bars. Irina Los, an employee of the state enterprise Goszaransobstvennost engaged in the foreign property belonging to Russia, was sentenced to 5 years in custody. Also, all the convicts are to pay fines in the amount of 900,000 rubles.
According to the court findings, the defendants have stolen over 49 million rubles from Russia’s accounts using forged documents and paying fictious contracts on behalf of the embassy.
