MOSCOW, March 23 (RAPSI) – Russia’s Federal Ombudsman Tatiana Moskalkova has forwarded a plea in defense of the rights of a group of Chechens arrested in Nizhny Novgorod on terrorism allegations to the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Earlier this month, Moskalkova received via mass media an open application from Zara Magamadova, the mother of Salekh Magamadov and Ismail Isayev, who had been arrested in Nizhny Novgorod on suspicion of abetting terrorism. Moreover, mass media previously published an article about alleged physical coercion against the young people during their arrest, the Human Rights Commissioner’s press service stated.
After the receipt of the complaint Moskalkova asked the Prosecutor General’s Office to conduct check over alleged violations. She holds control over the situation, the statement reads.
