MOSCOW, March 30 (RAPSI) – The Council of Russia’s Federal Chamber of Lawyers has approved changes in the Code of Conduct prohibiting attorneys from commenting on legal views of their collegues participating in other proceedings, the Chamber’s press service has told RAPSI.
A lawyer should abstain from public comments concerning the circumstances of criminal cases not involving him or her legal positions of other attorneys involved in these trials, the draft amendment to the document reads.
According to the changes, lawyers also must avoid blaiming of suspects and defendants in cases where they are not involved.
The proposed amendments to the Code of Lawyers’ Ethics have been accepted by the All-Russian Congress of Lawyers.
