MOSCOW, April 23 (RAPSI) — The Main Investigative Department of the Russian Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case over receipt of a bribe in the amount of 12 million rubles (about $157,000 at the current exchange rate) by the head and deputy head of the investigative department of the Interior Ministry in the Solntsevo district of Moscow, the press service of the body informs RAPSI on Friday.

Yet another suspect in the case is a district police officer of the said department.

The probe was launched under a Criminal Code article on especially large bribes taken by an organized group.

Investigators allege that in April 2021 the suspects planned to receive the 12 million-ruble bribe from the victim in exchange for a promise to make certain procedural decisions within the framework of their official powers, the statement reads.

In the near future, the defendants will be charged and pretrial restrictions chosen, the body said.
