MOSCOW, May 26 (RAPSI) – A court in Irkutsk has sentenced a national of Tajikistan guilty of recruiting new members to the Islamic State terrorist organization banned in Russia to 13 years in high-security penal colony, the Investigative Committee’s press service reports.

According to the court and investigators, the defendant being an active adherent of the international terrorist organization held parleys with his acquaintances in Irkutsk with an aim to involve them in the activities of terrorists in Syria. 

It was also found that he personally produced firearms and sold them. During searches at his premises law enforcement officers found lots of religious literature, weapons and ammunition, the statement reads.

The convict was also a member of an Irkutsk gang engaged in kidnapping, robbery and sale of fire pieces. Five persons suffered from his actions, according to investigators.
