MOSCOW, June 29 (RAPSI) – Belgium has granted extradition of Ali Ozdamirov, an alleged assailant on a school in Russia’s Republic of Chechnya in 1996, a statement on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office reads.

According to investigators, the accused, being a military chief at school in one of the Republic’s villages, created an organized military group to embezzle money allocated for wages and educational grants.

On April 24, 1996, the gang members committed an armed assault on the school. They took 40.6 million pre-revaluation rubles from the director’s cabinet. As a result of the shooting, the school head died and one more employee was injured, according to the statement.

Ozdamirov escaped and was put on the international wanted list.
