MOSCOW, August 4 (RAPSI) — The Moscow Commercial Court has dismissed Google LLC's claim against the Russian communications watchdog Roskomnadzor seeking that the restriction of access to 12 links to illegal content on YouTube was recognized as unlawful, RAPSI learns in the court.
According to Anton Gorelkin, a member of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Google's claim against Roskomnadzor is a manifestation of a positive trend that is the recognition of Russian laws by foreign IT platforms.
The lawmaker believes that Google may have been influenced by the introduction to the Duma of a bill on the "landing" of foreign Internet platforms. It may be they themselves came to the idea of working in Russia according to Russian rules. In any case, the game is being played in the legal field and on behalf of Google’s American headquarters. This is exactly how it should be, the parliamentarian concluded.
