MOSCOW, October 18 (RAPSI) – Moscow’s Zamoskvoretsky District Court on Monday sentenced businessman Valery Perevoznikov to 12 years behind bars for the embezzlement of 179 million rubles ($2.5 million) intended for producing prostheses for disabled persons, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia reports.
Between 2017 and 2018, Perevoznikov fraudulently obtained the funds of 40 disabled persons. He signed prostheses producing agreements but failed to fulfill his obligations and embezzled the money.
In September 2020, Perevoznikov was sentenced to 4 years for stealing 5 million rubles in a similar case involving a Paralympic athlete.
