MOSCOW, June 9 (RAPSI) – Moscow’s Basmanny District Court has extended the detention of journalist Vladimir Kara-Murza (declared a foreign agent) until August 12 in a case over fake stories about Russia’s army, RAPSI has learnt from the court’s press service.

The journalist’s motion for a non-custodial measure of restraint has been dismissed.

Kara-Murza stands charged with public distribution of knowingly false information about Russia’s military forces. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison. 

Prior to his detention the journalist served a 15-day administrative detention for resisting the police. He was arrested near his place of living on April 11. According to the police records, he refused to submit his documents and march to a police car.
