MOSCOW, August 10 (RAPSI) — Moscow's Lefortovsky District Court confirmed the detention of Yevgeny Melnik, former CEO of the Russian Telecom Equipment Company that specializes in production and development of telecommunication equipment and that was engaged in defence procurement contracts. 

Melnik will remain in detention until October 2, 2022. The hearing was held dehind closed doors.

Being charged with abuse of power, Melnik faces up to 8 years in prison.

Russian Telecom Equipment Company was established in 2007 as a s joint venture of Rosoboronexport and Atlantis group of companies.
