MOSCOW, October 4 (RAPSI) – A magistrate judge has fined video streaming service Twitch Interactive 4 million rubles (about $70,000 at the current exchange rate) for refusal to delete information prohibited by Russian law, RAPSI has learnt from the press service of Moscow’s Tagansky District Court.
Twitch has been found to commit an administrative offense, the statement reads.
Twitch is a video streaming service that specializes in video games, including broadcasts of gameplay and eSports tournaments.
In late August, the service was fined 3 million rubles for a similar violation.
Russia’s communications watchdog Roskomnadzor reminds that if an Internet platform fails to block the prohibited information within 24 hours after receiving the respective notification, it faces fines ranging from 800,000 (about $13,000) to 4 million rubles (about $67,000) and up to 10% of its total annual revenue in case of repeated violations.
