MOSCOW, February 3 (RAPSI) – Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin has signed a resolution establishing the rules governing provision of support to socially important online media outlets and the development of websites being of social or educational significance.
The Government reminds that earlier such rules have been annually approved by an order of Federal Agency on Press and Mass Communications; since 2021 these powers are vested with the Government where the Ministry for Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media is to directly provide the said support to mass media outlets.
Subsidies are to be provided to founders of mass media outlets; the funds may be used to create new programs and shoot documentaries. It is permitted to spend the subsidies for wages and salaries of employees and external professionals and to meet certain other operational expenses, the resolution reads.
The competitive admissions framework and respective requirements are to be published on the official website of the Ministry for Digital Development.
