MOSCOW, April 5 - RAPSI. The Supreme Court has developed legislative proposals for the Criminal Code fraud provision.
The court proposes to add six subsections to the provision which will describe in greater detail loan frauds, payment cards fraud, investment fraud, insurance and computer information fraud.
The court means to distinguish between different types of fraud rather than to toughen the punishment for the offence. The Criminal Code currently carries the maximum punishment of ten-years in prison for stealing property or obtaining the right to property by deception and abuse of trust.
Pursuant to the amendments adopted by the Supreme Court plenum by a majority vote, the fine will only be increased for one type of fraud. The authors proposed to increase the fine to 80,000 rubles ($2,700) or to the amount of the defendants six-month wage in addition to the custodial punishment.
