MOSCOW, December 27 – RAPSI. President Vladimir Putin has submitted for State Duma’s ratification an agreement between Russia and Italy on a railway transit of arms, ammo, military vehicles, munition and personnel through Russia to Afghanistan.
The agreement was signed in Sochi on December 3, 2010.
The transit will be carried out in connection with Italian armed forces’ participation in international efforts to stabilize and restore Afghanistan.
Russia might deny granting permission for the cargo’s transit if it is established that the cargo’s and the personnel’s movement does not correspond to goals stipulated in the agreement and threatens Russia’s national security. Also Russia will be entitled to annul the previously granted permission.
Arms, ammo, vehicles, munition and personnel will be transited with no customs duties charged.
Italy will bear all expenses connected with transportations under the agreement.
