MOSCOW, August 29 (RAPSI) – Russian Emergencies Ministry reported Friday that it has submitted to the State Duma the bill on strategic facilities which introduces their classification and specifications.
The bill provides a list of “critically important facilities” which includes nuclear and hydroelectric power plants; nuclear fuel producing entities; facilities of oil, gas industries and power generation sector; military facilities; smelting and chemical plants; complex infrastructure constructions; water, air and pipeline transport.
Facilities which operation and maintenance is crucial for the economy of the country in general as well the economy of its regions and may affect the security and standard of living of the society are placed on the list of the critically important facilities.
There are over 4,500 critically important facilities in Russia, according to the Emergencies Ministry. Most of them are located in densely populated areas, large cities and towns.
