KIEV, June 8 (RAPSI) – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed into law a bill that terminates an agreement between Ukraine and Russia on military cooperation, according to a statement on Verkhovna Rada website.
The agreement was signed on November 25, 1995 in Sochi and ratified by the Ukrainian parliament in 2002.
On May 21, Ukrainian parliament voted to terminate the agreement “in order to protect Ukraine’s national interests, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.”
Russia “unilaterally breached international law and carried out an armed attack on Ukraine,” the bill said in its explanatory note.
