MOSCOW, March 11 (RAPSI) – Lawmakers from A Just Russia political party, Sergei Mironov and Oleg Nilov, have submitted to the State Duma a bill tightening penalties for deception of customers, the party’s press service announced on Friday.
The bill establishes responsibility for cheating on weights and measures, fraud in consumer properties and quality of goods, violation of consumers’ rights to obtaining true information about goods, failure to grant benefits fixed by law.
Such violations could result in fines of up to 30,000 rubles ($422) for individuals; up to 100,000 rubles ($1,400) for officials and up to 500,000 rubles ($7,000) for companies.
