MOSCOW, October 6 (RAPSI, Yevgeniya Sokolova) – The system of road traffic accident prevention must be revised, Russia’s High Commissioner for Human Rights Tatiana Moskalkova told RAPSI on Friday.
The whole control system is to be improved both in legislative practice and operation of law, the ombudsman stressed.
In the early hours of October 6, a train crashed into a bus at a railway crossing in the Vladimir region. According to preliminary data, 16 people were killed as a result of the accident.
According to Moskalkova, the number of road traffic accidents increased recently which indicates that the efficiency of accident prevention system declined.
The institute of human rights ombudsman is a government body involved in protection and promotion of rights and freedoms, and competent legal assistance. Moskalkova was appointed as Russia’s human rights ombudsman in April 2016.
