MOSCOW, December 13 (RAPSI) – Russian media watchdog Roskomnadzor will present the State Duma with its proposals concerning legislative changes allowing to block websites with animal abuse content without a court order, the watchdog’s statement reads on Wednesday.

These measures are also proposed to be taken against websites on trade of especially valuable animals.

According to Roskomnadzor head Alexander Zharov, currently both categories of websites are blocked only by court and the whole procedure takes too much time. He noted that animal abuse content is very dangerous and affects human psyche, especially that of children.

Zharov proposed to amend the law on information by removing the definition of “propaganda” in order to make the legislation applicable to more situations.
