MOSCOW, February 6 (RAPSI) – A Governmental commission has approved some amendments to the migration regulations making employers responsible to control compliance with their provisions, Vladimir Gruzdev, the Chair of the Association of Russian Lawyers, who was present at the Commission meeting, told RAPSI on Tuesday.

According to Gruzdev, the amendments establish responsibility of legal entities and individuals inviting foreign workforce in case they fail to control if foreign citizens conform to the declared aims and terms of their stay in Russia.

As of today, Gruzdev noted, Russian legislation envisaged responsibility of individuals inviting foreigners in the country if they fail to take actions ensuring timely departure of such foreigners from Russia.

However, according to the Association’s Chair, although organizations inviting foreigners as workforce is a more widespread practice, no obligations to control timely departure of those invited have been put on legal entities as yet, what disadvantaged private hosts and constituted a risk to the society because of uncontrolled entry of migrants into the country. The measure approved by the Commission is seen as a means to more vigorously clamp down on the violations of the migration law, Gruzdev said.
