MOSCOW, April 18 (RAPSI) – Moscow lawmakers have proposed to set punishment for accessory in illegal obtaining by foreign citizens and stateless persons of documents required for entrance and stay in Russia, according to the statement of the Moscow City Duma.
Amendments are proposed to Russia’s Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes. The bill will be soon submitted to the State Duma.
Under the bill, complicity in illegal receipt of documents for migrants would be punished with fines of up to 200,000 rubles ($3,300), community service or prison terms of up to 3 years.
Current legislation significantly complicates criminal prosecution of people carrying out intermediary functions in illegal obtaining of documents for migrants’ entry and stay in the Russian Federation as well as transit passage via the territory of the country, according to the Moscow City Duma commissioner of security Inna Svyatenko.
The bill would let bring chiefs and employees of private companies engaged in accessory in illegal obtaining of documents by migrants under the pretense of advisory services to responsibility.
