MOSCOW, August 30 (RAPSI) – A bill obliging search engines operating in Russia to remove links to website with pirated content included in the register of illegal data within 6 hours may be considered by the end of September, according to the State Duma website.
The bill is developed by Russia’s media watchdog Roskomnadzor in cooperation with representatives of movie and TV industry, as well as IT companies.
Leonid Levin, the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policies, Information Technologies and Communications, has already stated that the Committee will carefully study all respective proposals.
According to Levin, the proposals base on the practices of enforcement of the Memorandum on cooperation in fight against distribution of pirated content signed by a range of major Russian internet companies and copyright owners.
