MOSCOW, April 17(RAPSI) – The State Duma passed in the second and third readings on Friday amendment to the Tax Code applying to healthcare workers and certain organizations in relation to the coronavirus spread.

Thus, under the draft law, payments to doctors and medical staff engaged in care of coronavirus-infected patients will not be subjected to the personal income tax.

Among the amendments the government presented to the lower house of Russia’s parliament was that freeing compensations paid to the doctors and medical staff, who combat the spread of the coronavirus disease, which had been developed according to the instructions given by the President, Chair of the government Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting of the Cabinet on Thursday.

Moreover, according to the lower house’s statement, the MPs passed amendments envisaging tax remissions for organizations purchasing individual safety gears and coronavirus tests. So, the expenses of organizations for the purchase of personal protective equipment, testing systems and medical equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of coronaviruses will be attributed to expenses in calculating income tax. Despite the fact that such expenses are not relevant for most enterprises, they will not be considered as tax bases for income tax.

The amendments are to lower taxpayer expenses.
