MOSCOW, July 24 (RAPSI) – The Federation Council has approved a bill developed by President Vladimir Putin on amendments to the law on education as concerns personal development of students, according to a statement of the upper house of Russia’s Parliament.
The amendments to the law are to specify the procedures governing organization of the attitude development work in the educational system; amplify the conceptual framework of the law; develop and put in place personal development mechanisms as components of educational programs run by general schools, secondary-level vocational training and higher education establishments.
Student councils, councils of parents, representative bodies of students, when such are in place, are to have the right to participate in the development of respective character building programs and their schedules.
Educational programs are to be brought in compliance with the new provisions not later than by September 1, 2021; educational establishments are to be responsible for informing students and parents about these changes, the statement reads.
The lower house of Russia’s Parliament approved the amendments on July 22, the law is to be enacted on September 1, 2020.
