MOSCOW, October 16 (RAPSI) – Provisions envisaging regulation of foreign IT companies operating in the territory of Russia need to be incorporated in Russian laws, First Deputy Chair of the Civic Chamber’s Commission for Examination of Legislative Initiatives Artem Kiryanov believes.

The phase of expert discussion has been already completed, it is necessary to get to taking legislative decisions and those concerning enforcement, Kiryanov said addressing a roundtable meeting No to Censorship: How Google is to be Brought to Justice, citing the data of Russia’s media watchdog Roskomnadzor that services owned by Google failed to remove over 5,000 materials banned for dissemination in the territory of the Russian Federation.

The civic activist is of the opinion that economic interests of foreign IT corporations are to be used to make them comply with the national legislation through the legislative regulation, which is also is to ensure that rights and interests of Russian citizens could be restored.

Earlier, the Moscow City Prosecutor petitioned a court to oblige Google to restore violated rights of an indefinite range of persons by opening access to Beslan documentary by Alexander Rogatkin.
