MOSCOW, March 25 (RAPSI) — The Government Law-Making Commission has approved amendments to the Russian Criminal Code introducing liability for falsification of the labeling of goods, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Lawyers of Russia Vladimir Gruzdev informs RAPSI.
The changes envisaged by the document are to be made to the article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on production, acquisition, storage, transportation, or sale of goods and products without marking and (or) without indicating information provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation, the Char of the Association said.
A way to legalize illegal goods is the use of counterfeit labels. The bill extends this article of the Criminal Code to the use of counterfeit identification marks of goods. To let market participants to adapt to the new rules, it is planned to postpone the entry into force of the proposed law by six months from the date of its official publication, Gruzdev explained.
The Chair of the Association reminded that according to the Judicial Department at the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, in the six months of last year, 249 people were convicted under the said article of the Russian Criminal Code.
