MOSCOW, June 3 (RAPSI) – Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree simplifying the process for children from orphanages in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) and Ukraine to acquire Russian citizenship.
According to the order, orphans, children deprived of parental care and disabled persons from these territories will get the Russian citizenship under the simplified procedure. This measure will make their fostering in Russian families easier.
An initiative to regulate legislation to solve this problem was submitted by the United Russia party. It envisages that the citizenship obtaining papers must be filed by a person whom the child is in ward, a head of an orphanage or a head of a guardianship and custodianship body.
