MOSCOW, July 5 (RAPSI) – The lower house of parliament, the State Duma, adopted a bill to create a specialized information database of extremist materials in a final third reading on Tuesday.
The document envisages that the Justice Ministry will be an operator of the new state information system.
The new extremist materials database is to improve both the efficiency of active search measures or investigative activities and preparation of preventive anti-terrorism and anti-extremism actions, according to Chairman of the Committee on Security and Corruption Control Vasily Piskarev. It would be a sensitive state information system unlike with the Federal list of extremist materials published on the Justice Ministry’s website, he stated.
Amendments are proposed to Russia’s Code of Administrative Procedure and Federal Law On Countering Extremist Activities.
