Moscow, April 14  – RAPSI. Prosecutor-General of Russia Yuri Chaika has nominated head of Prosecutor-General’s anti-corruption department Alexander Anikin for the post of Prosecutor of the Moscow Region, spokeswoman for the Prosecutor-General’s Office Marina Gridneva told RIA Novosti.

The previous prosecutor of the Moscow Region, Alexander Mokhov, was dismissed following an inspection related to the investigation of a chain of illegal gambling parlors in the Moscow Region. 

Alexander Anikin has been the head of the Prosecutor-General’s Office anti-corruption department since the creation of the department in the Prosecutor-General’s Office in August 2007.

Anikin was born in Vladimir in 1960. In 1984 he graduated from the Ivanovo State University with a degree in Law. He has worked in prosecution agencies since 1978. He was first deputy prosecutor of the Ryazan Region, prosecutor of the Tver Region and prosecutor of the Primorye Territory.
